I've just discovered a blog called Fat of the Land and it's got me out into the garden, pulling up the weeds -- and eating them. Today it's Stinging Nettle Pesto and believe me it is absolutely delicious. And a couple of days ago I tried Dandy Tempura -- that's deep fried dandelion flowers to you --equally yummy. There are loads of recipes on the blog for these plants and others which are available in the wild at no cost to you -- in fact if like me you have them growing in your own garden you're benefiting twice over because your garden will soon be weed free. Three times, really, as these plants are also reputedly full of health benefits. In fact according to Naturopathic Health, dandelions can treat everything from liver disease to diabetes, while nettles are good for arthritis, anaemia, kidney infections... well, you get the idea. And they're fun and tasty too.
