Last week I showed you a woman with a cat and a book, this week we've lost the woman but continued the theme. This is 'The Scholar Cat', painted in 1881 by the American artist John Henry Dolph (1835-1903) whose speciality was -- you've guessed it -- cats. If you like to see paintings of cats then take a look at this site, which is wholly devoted to Delphi's depictions of the little creatures disporting themselves in various ways. I thought most of them were pretty sentimental but I do like this one. Reminds my of my little cat Spot who sadly died after an accident last year aged just two.
