Not reading, not writing, not doing anything at all apart from sitting on a yellow sofa and wearing a particularly beautiful coat which looks as if it is made from sari fabric. It was painted by John Mansfield Crealock (1871-1959), a Manchester born artist. The painting, dated 1912, is called The Yellow Sofa and this is actually a detail -- you can see the whole painting here, together with the information that it was sold in 2007 for £31,200. He's not a painter I'd ever heard of, but I liked the picture and hope you may too.
