Thanks to Simon and Claire I've been reminded of Simon's meme so here's the current state of play in my reading world.
1) The book I'm currently reading
Robert Barnard, A Stranger in the Family.
I discovered Robert Barnard a few months ago when I read his excellent Out of the Blackout. I'm only a short way into this but I'm enjoying it very much so far. It's about a young man who returns to the family he was abducted from at the age of two -- and discovers there are many secrets...
2) The last book I finished
Stef Penney, The Invisible Ones.
Having really loved The Tenderness of Wolves I was very curious to see what Stef Penney was going to follow it up with. Some people seem to have been diappointed but I wasn't. Review will be up soon.
3) The next book I want to read
Whether I actually will or not is another matter -- but I read an excellent review of this on Gallimaufry and was inspired to try it. I have read some Henry James but I've always been afraid to try this one as it does sound like a challenge. But challenge is good, isn't it?
4) The last book I bought
Henry Green, Concluding.
I've read a couple of Henry Green's novels, Loving and Party Going, and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this -- I'm hoping it will be waiting for me when I get back to the UK next week.
5) The last book I was given
Val McDermid, A Trick of the Dark.
Got this for my birthday last month and whizzed through it -- it passed a pleasant enough few hours but didn't set off any fireworks. I know people who are huge fans of V McD but I am not one of them.
